EPS to SVG converts an EPS file into SVG on our server: Ghostscript first turns it into a PDF cropped to the EPS bounding box, then Poppler's pdftocairo writes the SVG. Vector paths stay vector, so the result scales without blurring; text arrives as outlined shapes rather than editable text.

This is the vector-to-vector conversion: unlike tracing a PNG, nothing has to be guessed. The PostScript drawing commands become SVG paths, fills and strokes. If the EPS also contains embedded photos, those come across as images inside the SVG.

The work happens in two steps. Ghostscript (with -dEPSCrop) makes a PDF whose page is exactly the size of the artwork, so there is no empty A4 sheet around your logo, and pdftocairo from Poppler writes that page as SVG. Letters are drawn as glyph paths, which keeps their look but means you cannot retype them. The EPS is transferred over HTTPS and our server deletes it and the SVG after returning the file.

Is the SVG a true vector?

Yes, when the EPS contains vector artwork. The original paths are carried through the PDF step unchanged, so the SVG scales cleanly. If the EPS is just a wrapped photo, the SVG simply embeds that photo.

Can I edit the text in the SVG?

No, not as typed text. pdftocairo draws every letter as a path, so the wording looks right but cannot be retyped. You can still recolour or resize those letter shapes, or replace them with new text in your design tool.

Can I edit the SVG in Canva or Figma?

Yes. Both import SVG files; you can recolour and resize the shapes, though very complex files may import as grouped objects.

Why is there no white border around my logo?

Ghostscript crops the intermediate PDF to the bounding box stored in the EPS, so the SVG canvas fits the artwork itself.

What happens to my EPS?

It is processed in a temporary folder on our server and deleted along with the SVG as soon as the download reaches you.
