HEIC to JPG turns an iPhone or iPad photo saved as .heic into an ordinary JPG at 95% quality. The decoding happens in your browser, so the photo is converted on your own device.
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC by default because it takes roughly half the space of JPG for similar quality. The catch is compatibility: many Windows PCs, older Android phones, government portals and job sites still do not accept .heic files, and the upload simply fails.
This converter decodes the HEIC with the heic2any library and saves a JPG at 95% quality, a level where the difference from the original is very hard to spot. The width and height stay the same.
Choose the HEIC photo
Pick a .heic or .heif file, for example one copied from an iPhone or received by email.
Press Run
The browser decodes the photo; large photos can take a few seconds on a phone.
Save the JPG
Preview the result and download it with the same name and a .jpg ending.
On your device. The HEIC is decoded by JavaScript running in this browser tab and the JPG is created there too.
HEIC packs the same picture into fewer bytes than JPG, so a 2 MB HEIC often becomes a 3 to 5 MB JPG at 95% quality. If a form has a size limit, run the JPG through the Image Compressor afterwards.
Very little. JPG is saved at 95% quality and keeps the full resolution, so prints and zoomed views look the same to most eyes.
Usually not. The photo is redrawn as a new JPG, so camera details such as the capture date and GPS position are typically dropped. That is often useful when you share photos publicly.
Yes. On the iPhone, go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible; new photos will then be JPG. Existing HEIC photos still need converting.
No. It is free to use without signing up.
