PNG to WEBP converts a PNG image into a WEBP file inside your browser, at 92% quality. Transparent areas stay transparent, and the WEBP is usually much smaller than the PNG, which makes web pages load faster.
PNG is the usual choice for logos, icons and product cut-outs because it supports transparency, but it stores pixels without loss and gets heavy. WEBP was designed for the web: it also supports transparency, yet compresses far harder.
This converter uses your browser's WEBP encoder at 92% quality, which is lossy but very close to the original to the eye. For a product photo on a transparent background, the saving compared with PNG is often large; for a tiny flat icon it may be small.

Yes. WEBP supports transparency, and the converter passes the PNG's alpha channel straight through. Logos and cut-outs keep their see-through edges.
It depends on the image. Photos and product shots on transparent backgrounds often shrink by more than half. Simple icons with a few flat colours may shrink only a little, and the result card shows the exact change.
No. The browser's encoder is used at 92% quality, which is lossy but visually very close. If you need a bit-exact copy, keep the PNG as your master file.
All current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Opera display WEBP. Problems are mostly with older desktop software, not browsers.
No. Your browser reads the PNG, encodes the WEBP and hands you the download. The picture never leaves the device.
For screenshots shown on a website, yes, WEBP keeps text readable at much lower weight. For screenshots you send to a person who may open them in an old app, PNG or JPG is safer.
