PSD to SVG flattens a Photoshop file to its merged image and traces the dark shapes into a black SVG with potrace on our server. Layers, text, colours and effects are not carried over; it suits simple dark logos or icons drawn in Photoshop.

Photoshop files are pixel-based even when they contain shapes or text, so a PSD cannot simply be 'saved as' a vector without the original vector layers. This tool takes the practical route: ImageMagick reads the merged composite stored in the PSD, and potrace traces it in black and white.

The result is a scalable one-colour outline, useful for stamps, cutting machines or as a starting point for redrawing. If your PSD contains real shape layers, exporting them from Photoshop or Photopea as SVG gives a far more faithful result. The PSD is transferred over HTTPS and deleted with all intermediate files after the job.

Will my Photoshop layers become SVG layers?

No. The PSD is flattened to one image first, then traced, so the SVG is a single group of black paths. To keep layers, export shape layers from Photoshop directly.

Can I keep the colours?

No. The tracer works in black and white only. Use PSD to PNG if you need a full-colour image.

Why does my design look like a stencil?

Tracing turns every area into either solid or empty, so shading and gradients become hard-edged shapes. That is expected with this method.

Is the text in my PSD still editable?

No. Text is flattened and traced as outlines, so it scales cleanly but cannot be retyped.

What happens to my file on your side?

It is uploaded securely, processed by ImageMagick and potrace in a temporary folder, and that folder is erased once you have the SVG.
