Make Round Image crops a photo to a centred square and then cuts it into a circle or a rounded square, with transparent corners. A slider from 0% to 50% sets the roundness; 50% gives a perfect circle and the result is a PNG.

Round photos are everywhere: team pages, email signatures, event banners and speaker cards. Making one by hand means cropping to a square and masking the corners; this tool does both in one step.

First it takes the largest square from the middle of your picture, using the shorter side. Then it clips the corners according to the slider. Corners outside the shape are fully transparent, so the image sits cleanly on any background.

  1. Upload a photo

    Choose a portrait or logo; keep the face near the centre of the frame.

  2. Set the corner radius

    Keep 50% for a circle, or slide down for a rounded square; 0% leaves a plain square.

  3. Make it round

    Press Run Make Round Image and check the preview.

  4. Download the PNG

    Save the file, named with -round, and place it on your page, card or slide.

The tool keeps the central 800 × 800 square, trimming 200 pixels from the left and right, and then clips it to a circle. The PNG is 800 × 800 with transparent corners.

Why was part of my photo cut off?

A circle needs a square, so the tool keeps the largest centred square and trims the longer side. If the subject is not centred, use Crop Image first to place it in the middle.

Will the corners be white or transparent?

Transparent. The PNG has no background outside the circle, so it blends into any page colour.

How do I make a rounded square instead of a circle?

Lower the corner radius slider. Around 10 to 25% gives soft corners; 0% gives a plain square crop.

Can I upload the round picture as my Facebook or WhatsApp profile photo?

You can, but those apps already show profile photos in a circle, so a square photo works just as well there. Round PNGs are most useful on websites, posters and documents.

Does my photo leave my device?

No. Cropping and clipping happen on a canvas in your browser.
