TIFF to Text reads the printed words in a scanned TIFF image with Tesseract OCR and gives them back as plain text you can copy or save as a .txt file. Recognition runs in your browser and is set up for English and Bangla together.
Office scanners and fax software often save pages as TIFF, which looks fine on screen but cannot be searched or edited. Optical character recognition (OCR) looks at the shapes of the letters and turns them back into text you can paste into Word, an email or a spreadsheet.
The tool uses Tesseract.js with the English and Bangla language packs loaded at the same time, so a letter that mixes both scripts is read in one pass. The first run downloads the OCR engine and language data (around 10 MB) from shomoy.io and the browser keeps them cached, so later pages start faster. A page usually takes 20 to 60 seconds, depending on your device.
Pick the TIFF
Tap the upload box and choose a .tif or .tiff file from your computer or phone.
Run the OCR
Press Run. A progress bar shows the engine loading and then recognising the page.
Check the words
The text appears with a word and character count. Skim it for misread letters, especially in small print.
Copy or save
Copy the text straight into your document, or download it as a .txt file named after your scan.
No. Tesseract runs inside your browser tab, so the scan is processed on your own device. Only the OCR program and its English and Bangla language files are downloaded from shomoy.io the first time.
Yes, printed Bangla is supported, and English on the same page is read in the same pass. Results are better with clear, dark print scanned at 300 DPI or more; old typewriter or faded photocopies produce more wrong letters.
The OCR engine and two language packs, roughly 10 MB in total, are downloaded once and then cached by your browser. After that, each page typically takes 20 to 60 seconds depending on your phone or computer.
No. You get plain text with line breaks, not columns, tables or fonts. For a formatted document, paste the text into Word and rebuild the layout there.
Only one page is processed. If you have a multi-page scan, convert it to PDF first and use the PDF OCR tool, which reads every page in turn.
There is neither. You can run as many pages as you like, one after another.
