VSD to PDF converts a classic Microsoft Visio .vsd drawing into a PDF using LibreOffice on our server. Each Visio page becomes a PDF page, so flowcharts and floor plans can be viewed and printed on any device without Visio.

.vsd is the binary format Visio used up to Visio 2010; newer versions save .vsdx instead. Old project folders, university lab manuals and office archives are full of .vsd flowcharts, network diagrams and org charts that nobody can open without a Visio licence.

LibreOffice imports the drawing through its Visio filter and exports a PDF, keeping shapes and lines as vector graphics where it can. Your drawing reaches our server through an encrypted connection, and both it and the finished PDF are purged once the download begins. Complex Visio-only features may not reproduce perfectly, so check the PDF against what you expect.

    LibreOffice opens the drawing and writes a PDF; larger diagrams take longer.

How can I open a .vsd file without Visio?

Convert it to PDF here and open the PDF in any browser or reader. To edit the diagram, the free LibreOffice Draw can open .vsd files on your computer.

What is the difference between VSD and VSDX?

VSD is the older binary format used up to Visio 2010; VSDX is the XML-based format from Visio 2013 onward. This page takes .vsd; there is a separate tool for .vsdx.

Will the PDF look exactly like Visio?

Usually close, but not always identical. LibreOffice reconstructs the drawing, so unusual fonts, shadows or Visio themes may shift slightly.

Are multi-page drawings supported?

Yes. A drawing with five Visio pages produces a five-page PDF, in the original order.

Where does my diagram go?

To our server, over HTTPS. LibreOffice converts it in a temporary directory, and the directory is removed straight after the PDF is returned.
