VSDX to PDF turns a modern Visio .vsdx file (Visio 2013 and later) into a PDF with LibreOffice on our server, one PDF page per Visio page. Anyone can then open, print or comment on the diagram without Visio.

Visio is part of a paid Microsoft 365 plan, and many colleagues, teachers and clients do not have it. A PDF of the diagram removes that barrier: it opens in every browser and on every phone, and keeps lines and text sharp when zoomed because LibreOffice exports them as vectors where possible.

Your .vsdx travels over HTTPS to our server. LibreOffice imports it and writes the PDF in a scratch area that is cleared once you have the file. Very elaborate Visio themes or uncommon fonts may render slightly differently from the original.

  1. Select the .vsdx

    Choose the Visio file, up to 100 MB.

  2. Run

    LibreOffice converts all pages to PDF; this can take up to a couple of minutes for big diagrams.

  3. Save the PDF

    Download it and share or print it as you would any PDF.

Do I need Visio to use this?

No. LibreOffice on our server reads the .vsdx, so you only need a browser to upload it and a PDF reader to view the result.

Are all pages included?

Yes. Nothing is skipped: page one of the drawing is page one of the PDF, and so on to the last.

Will the text stay sharp when I zoom?

Generally yes, because shapes and text are exported as vectors. Text in a font we do not have is shown in a substitute font.

What happens to my diagram after conversion?

It exists on our server only while LibreOffice works on it. The temporary folder holding the .vsdx and the PDF is deleted immediately afterwards.

Can I convert the PDF back to Visio?

Not with this tool. Keep your original .vsdx for editing and share the PDF for viewing.
