eSign PDF lets you draw your signature on screen and places it as an image on the page and position you choose. It is a picture of your handwriting, not a certified digital signature: it carries no certificate and does not prove the document was left unchanged.

For everyday paperwork, such as signing a leave application, an internship form or a rental agreement copy to send back by email, a drawn signature on the PDF is usually all that is asked. It saves printing, signing and scanning.

You draw in a white box with dark blue ink. The drawing is saved as a PNG image and placed on the page at the x and y position you enter (in points from the bottom-left corner), at a width you choose (default 200 points); the height follows automatically.

  1. Upload the PDF

    Choose the document that needs your signature.

  2. Draw your signature

    Sign in the white box with a finger, stylus or mouse. Press Clear to start again.

  3. Set page and position

    Enter the page number, X, Y and Width. On A4 (595 × 842 points), y 100 is near the bottom of the page.

  4. Sign and download

    Press Run eSign PDF, download the file ending in -signed.pdf and check where the signature landed.

Is this a legally valid digital signature?

It is an image of your handwritten signature, like a scanned one. It contains no digital certificate and cannot show whether the file was changed later. Where an organisation requires a certificate-based digital signature, use a licensed certifying authority's service instead.

Why is there a white box around my signature?

The drawing pad has a white background, and it is saved with that background. Place the signature on a blank area such as the signature line, so the white box covers nothing.

How do I put the signature at the bottom right?

On A4, try X 380, Y 80 and Width 150. Y counts upward from the bottom edge, so a small Y means low on the page. Adjust and run again if needed.

Can I sign more than one page?

Each run signs one page. Download the result, upload it again and sign the next page.

Is my signature saved or uploaded?

No. The drawing is turned into an image and placed into the PDF in your browser; nothing is stored on shomoy.io.
