Unlock PDF removes the password from a PDF when you type the password that currently opens it, and returns a decrypted copy made with qpdf. It does not guess, crack or bypass unknown passwords.
Banks, mobile operators and utility companies in Bangladesh often send monthly statements as PDFs locked with part of your account number or date of birth. Typing that every time you open the file, or before attaching it to a loan or visa application, gets tiring, and some upload portals reject encrypted PDFs outright.
Here you enter the password you already have, and qpdf on our server writes a copy without encryption. If the password is wrong, the conversion fails and nothing is returned. The tool is for files that are yours or that you were given the password for.
Pick the locked PDF
Select the statement, letter or report that asks for a password.
Enter the current password
Type exactly the password that opens it; capital and small letters matter.
Run Unlock PDF
The file and password go to our server over HTTPS, and qpdf decrypts it.
Download the open copy
The new PDF opens with no prompt. Store it carefully, since it is no longer protected.
No. You must type the current password; the tool does not try to guess or break it. If you have lost the password to a bank or office document, ask the sender for a new copy.
Removing a password from your own file, or one you were given the password for, is normal. Using it to open documents you are not supposed to read is not, and this tool cannot do that anyway because it needs the password.
Both are sent over HTTPS to our server, where qpdf writes the unlocked copy in a temporary folder. That temporary copy is deleted right after the download is sent, and the password is not stored.
Each bank sets its own rule, usually explained in the email that came with the statement, such as part of an account number or a date of birth. Check that email or ask the bank; we cannot tell you.
No. Only the encryption is removed; pages, fonts and images stay the same.
Encryption may not be the only reason. Portals also limit size and sometimes page count. Use Compress PDF or Split PDF if the file is too big.
