About Hash Generator · বিস্তারিত
Calculates SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 or SHA-512 hashes of typed text or of a file you choose, using the browser's built-in SubtleCrypto API. Output is lowercase hexadecimal, and the file is read on your device rather than uploaded.
A hash is a fixed-length fingerprint of data. Change one comma in a document or one byte in a download and the hash changes completely, which makes hashes the standard way to check that a file arrived intact or that two copies are identical. SHA-256 produces 64 hex characters, SHA-384 96 and SHA-512 128.
Text is hashed as UTF-8 bytes, so the same sentence gives the same hash here as in a command line like sha256sum, provided there is no extra newline at the end. SHA-1 is included for older systems such as legacy checksums, but it is no longer collision-resistant, so prefer SHA-256 or higher for anything security-related.
How to use it · কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন
- 1
Choose the algorithm
Tap SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 or SHA-512. Both text and file results follow this choice.
- 2
Hash text
Type or paste into the Hash text box; the hash updates as you type.
- 3
Hash a file
Drop a file on the Hash file area or click to choose one. Its name, size and type are shown with the hash.
- 4
Copy and compare
Press Copy and compare with the checksum published by the software vendor or sent by a colleague.
When it helps · কখন কাজে লাগে
- Checking a download
- Many software sites publish a SHA-256 checksum next to an installer or ISO. Hash the downloaded file and compare before installing.
- Proving a document has not changed
- Record the hash of a signed contract PDF or exam result file; anyone can later re-hash the file and confirm it is the same version.
- Developer tasks
- Generate a SHA-256 for an ETag, a cache key or a test vector without opening a terminal.
Example: the sample sentence
The page starts with "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog". Its SHA-256 is d7a8fbb307d7809469ca9abcb0082e4f8d5651e46d3cdb762d02d0bf37c9e592 and its SHA-1 is 2fd4e1c67a2d28fced849ee1bb76e7391b93eb12. Add a single full stop at the end and both hashes change entirely.
What you get
- SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512
- Hash typed text live, as UTF-8
- Hash a file by drag-and-drop or file picker
- Shows file name, size in KB and type
- Lowercase hex output with copy buttons
- Uses the browser's Web Crypto API; the file is read locally
